Lang Son province: State governance on religious affairs in Bac Son district praised

In 2014 Bac Son district Fatherland Front Committee was awarded a certificate of merit for its implementation of the Resolution of the 9th Party Central Committee passed at 7 Plenum on religious affairs.

As informed by Vice President of Bac Son district Fatherland Front Triệu Thu Hà, the district currently has three operative religions of Buddhism, Catholicism and Protestantism, with 471 religious households and over 2,200 followers, accounting for 31.7% of the district population.

In previous ten years, the district’s Party and administrative authorities organized 150 meetings on dissemination of the Party’s Resolution on religious affairs with over 30,000 people in attendance, and 13 religious training conferences for over 1,000 local cadres working on religious affairs. 

The dissemination and mobilization works by Bac Son district authorities encouraged religious followers to actively participate in movements for community development in the localities. According to a district report, since 2003, followers of religions in the district have contributed over 100 million VND for the poor and other charity programs, and voluntarily donated 11,234 sq meter of land for building local facilities, such as schools and cultural houses. Protestant families of Triệu Hữu Thắng, Triệu Sinh Hội, Triệu Sinh Ngân are amongst typical households in these social and charitable activities.  

In addition, religious followers in the district have also proactively joint local Party cells and administrative organs. For an example, in Vu Son commune -  a locality with a large number of Protestants - 17 religious joint the Party cell, 11 religious took part in the reconciliation team, 6 religious participated in local front affairs.

According to Deputy Secretary of Bac Son Party Committee Dương Minh Thuận, the implementation of the Party Resolution on religious affairs by the district Fatherland Front has contributed to the consolidation and strengthening of unity between the religious and non-religious, and unity between religions in the locality.

The presentation of a certificate of merit by Bac Son district People’s Committee to the district Fatherland Front Committee demonstrated its recognition of efforts and achievements made by local Fatherland Front committees in religious affairs in recent years.
