Chairman of Kien Giang provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Hoàng Oanh led a delegation on June 30 to visit two Buddhist summer retreat courses for monks and nuns held in the locality.
At the retreat courses, Chairman Nguyễn Hoàng Oanh shared with monks and nuns the local religious life and State policies on belief and religion. He also encouraged monks and nuns to promote fine Buddhist traditions for the socio-economic development of the country.
According to the organizing board of the retreat, this year the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee held the Buddhist retreat from May 22 to August 14, with the participation of 134 Buddhists, at Phat Da Pagoda (for monks) and Tam Bao Pagoda (for nuns) in Kien Giang province’s Ha Tien town.
