Ho Chi Minh city: the municipal Vietnam Women’s Union promotes activities for religious women

On October 1st, the municipal Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) held a preliminary conference on report of two years implementation of the program No 03/CTLT - HLHPN - BTG between the city’s VWU and the municipal Committee for Religious Affairs for encouraging religious women to carry out the Party’s guidelines and the State’ policies and laws on brief and religion in 2012 -2017 period.

During two years, the city VWU instructed the VWU in 24 districts to actively coordinate with the Home Affairs Division of districts to disseminate Party and State’s policies on religion and national unity, Decree 92 detailing and providing measures for implementation of the Ordinance on Belief and Religion, Directive 01 on some tasks toward Protestantism, Vietnam Law on the Sea, Residence Law.... This dissemination program attracted the attendance of 2,561 nuns.

The VWU also created conditions for 41 religious women to join the Executive Committee of the VWU at all levels, registered 285 religious women as new members, bringing the total number of religious members in the city to 181.081.

In order to promote solidarity and mutual kindness, the city VWU also organized the charity Day Festival at Chanh Phu Hoa Social Sponsoring Center (Binh Duong province) with such activities as conducting health checks and free distribution of medicines, presenting gift boxes and food ... with a total budget of 249,367,500 VND.
