On occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday celebration 2015 (B.E.2559), Party Secretary of Hanoi city Phạm Quang Nghị led a delegation to visit the Central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) on May 27.
Joining with the delegation included Vice Chairman of Hanoi city People’s Committee Vũ Hồng Khanh and representatives from the city’s concerning departments and agencies.
Speaking at the reception, Mr. Phạm Quang Nghị extended best wishes to VBS leaders and Buddhist dignitaries and followers in Hanoi on occasion of the Vesak festival 2015. He also praised practical contributions made by the Central VBS to the national construction and defense.
During the reception, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Vice Standing Chairman of the Central VBS’s Executive Council thanked local authorities of Hanoi for their attention and favorable conditions created for Buddhist activities in the locality, and assured the Hanoi leaders that the VBS would further promote fine traditions of Vietnam Buddhism for peace and prosperity in the country. He also shared that, as the Vesak festival 2015 coincides with the International Children Day (1/6), the Vesak celebration 2015 in pagodas across the country will include extra activities for caring and educating the children.
