Fostering knowledge of national security and defense for religious dignitaries and deacons

For recent years, the Central Council for National Defense-Security Education has been boosting dissemination of national security and defense knowledge amongst religious dignitaries and deacons.
According to Major General Hồ Xuân Thức, Deputy Director of The Department of Militia and Defence, the program for fostering knowledge of national security and defense amongst dignitaries and deacons has received the backing of the religious organizations.
For over 15 years, more than 200,000 religious dignitaries and deacons in the whole country have attended trainings on national defense and security. In addition, thousands of seminarians, monks, nuns at religious institutes, seminaries and colleges have been introduced with national security and defense contents.

Abbot of Buon Ma Thuot’s city Pho Minh Pagoda Thích Trí Minh said during a training course: “In this training course, I have learnt updated information, especially official information ".
Priest Thượng Phòng Thanh representing a parish under the Caodai Tay Ninh Church in Hai Phong city said that, the content of the training on national security and defense was closely linked to the real situation, and duration of the training is also reasonably arranged, creating favorable conditions for the participation of religious dignitaries and deacons.
Besides the results achieved in recent times, the work of fostering the knowledge of national defense and security also need to be innovated and improved in order to attract wider participation of religious dignitaries and deacons and effectively enhance the understanding of national security and defense.
Major General Hồ Xuân Thức said: “The Department of Militia and Defence will continue to coordinate with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to promote training on knowledge of national security and defense in religious schools, and in the coming years it will try to make the training as a subject at religious schools at Catholic seminaries and other religious schools and colleges in Vietnam”./.
