Dong Nai provincial Committee for Religious Affairs meets with Catholic dignitaries

On September 3, 2014, at the office of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs (No 17, Vo Thi Sau street, Quyet Thang ward, Bien Hoa city), Dong Nai province’s Committee for Religious Affairs in collaboration with the provincial Party Committee’s Department of Mass Mobilization and the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Committee held the 2014 meeting with priests representing Catholic orders, Associations and the Office of Xuan Loc diocese, representatives from the Committee for Catholic Solidarity in districts.

Representatives of provincial authorities at the meeting included Mr. Hoàng Văn Tịnh, Chairman of the provincial Party Committee’s Department of Mass Mobilization; Mr. Lê Đình Thảo, Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Committee; Mr. Trần Thanh Hùng, Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs, chairperson of the meeting.

The meeting took place in a warm and open atmosphere, with frank exhanges on religious activities by grassroots religious orgainizations under Xuan Loc diocese and other religion-related issues, such as administrative procedures for land allocation, land-use right and building religious facilities.

At the meeting, on behalf of Catholic bishops, priests, clergyman and followers in Xuan Loc diocese, Priest Đặng Văn Tú thanked local authorities for favorable conditions created to religious activities in the diocese and requested local authorities’ support to religious practices by orders, associations and parishes in the coming time, especially activities towards the 50th founding anniversary of Xuan Loc diocese.

Representatives from provincial authorities at the meeting recorded reflections and proposals by Catholic delegates and urged Catholic dignitaries to effectively encourage followers to live for “better secular and religious life” and contribute to patriotic movements for stability and socio-economic development in localities.
