Conference on implementation of religious, ethnic policies for Buddhist dignitaries held in Soc Trang

Soc Trang provincial committee for ethnic affairs held on June 15-16 a conference on the implementation of religious and ethnic policies for 230 monks, abbots and members of management board of Khmer Buddhist temples in the province.
The two-day event covered topics on policies on religious and ethnic affairs for Khmer people.
In addition, updated information on socio-economic development of the province in the first half of the year 2018 and practical religious and ethnic-related issues were also briefed at the conference.
Soc Trang province is home to the largest number of Khmer people in the country with 400,000 Khmer people, accounting for 31% of the province's population. Most of Khmer people in the province follow Theravada Buddhism with 92 Khmer Buddhist temples and about 2,000 Khmer Buddhist monks.
