Tien Giang provincial People’s Committee held a conference on June 8 for thorough implementation of the Law on Belief and Religion and the Law on Property Auction for local officials.
Attending the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Trần Thanh Đức and nearly 200 officials in charge of legal affairs from the provincial departments and 11 districts in the province.
Regarding to the Law on Belief and Religion, the participants listened the necessity and principles for the enactment of the law as well as key contents of the law, including the freedom to manifest one's religion or belief, the registration of group activities, time and competence for recognition of religious organizations, the ordainment, election and appointment of religious dignitaries and deacons, the notification of annual religious activities and programs, application for foreigners to study in religious training institutions in Vietnam, and the inspection in the implementation of the religious law and the sanctioning of officials and staffers violating the law.
