Binh Thuan authorities actively preserve cultural values of ethnic groups

The South central province of Binh Thuan is home to over 30 ethnic groups residing in eight out of ten districts and each ethnic group has own cultural identities, customs and festivals.  

Responding to the movement for building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity launched by the provincial Party’s Committee, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Department has attached its importance to the preservation and promotion of ethnic groups’ cultural values.

So far, the department has implemented restoration of Po Dam tower, Hung Kings temple, Po Sah Inu tower, Duc Thang communal house as well as organized seminars for assessment of  Kate festival in Po Sah Inu, Mid-Autumn festival, Ramuwan festival of Cham Bani people and Thay Thim temple festival in La Gi for improving the organization of these important events.

In addition, Cham Culture Exhibition Centre also collected 417 cultural objects, raising the total number of artifacts and antiques to 1,370. Ethnic groups in the province have introduced typical cultural heritages through cultural programs and festivals of ethnic minorities, such as the ethnic minorities’ cultural festival, Cham cultural festival, national Chinese cultural festival, etc.

The Culture, Sports and Tourism Department in the province planned to strengthen the close coordination with concerning agencies in the coming time for better preservation and development of ethnic groups’ traditional culture.
