Bac Giang province: Hiep Hoa district reviews five-year implementation of movement for building cultural lifestyles

Hiep Hoa district is a midland district with a small cultivatable area of land. The district has 54,928 households with over 240,000 people, including 964 Catholic households, with 4,904 followers (accounting for 2.04% of the district’s population).

For the last five years, with the supports from local authorities, Catholic followers together with local people in residential areas have well observed Party’s guidelines and policies and State’s laws, actively joint in patriotic movements, contributing to promote the socio-economic development, poverty reduction and  build “culture family”, “cultural village”… 

Many households in the district have created income from 250 million to 300 million per year from expanded family businesses such as farming industry and services…. Some Catholics in Hop Thinh and Mai Dinh communes have maintained traditional sericulture with a stable income. Many households in Mai Dinh, Chau Minh, Huong Lam have developed and expanded wood processing businesses and creating jobs for many local people.

Responding to the movement “All people unite to build cultural life in residential areas”, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Boards of the residential areas encouraged families to actively participate for “cultural family” and “cultural street” in their localities. Every year over 95% of Catholic households were awarded the title “cultural family”.

 The Hiep Hoa district People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee have presented a certificate of merit to eleven collective units and ten individuals for their outstanding achievements in the movement “All people unite to build cultural life in residential areas  and live a better secular and religious life” for 2010-2015 period.
