A delegation of Ba Ria-Vung Tau provincial authorities paid a visit on May 8 to the office of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter located in Dai Tong Lam Pagoda in the province’s Tan Thanh district, on occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday celebration 2017 (B.E. 2561).
The delegation was led by Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Thị Yến and joint by representatives of the provincial People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.
During the visiting reception, while extending congratulations to local Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers on the Vesak festival 2017, Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Yến expressed hope that the VBS’s Executive Committee will successfully organize its 6th Congress for the 2017-2022 tenure, expected to be held on May 20-21.
Later, the delegation met with Senior Venerable Thích Giải Thiện from Hue Minh Pagoda also located in Tan Thanh district. On behalf of the local authorities, Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Yến took the chance to encourage the Senior Venerable to continue making further contributions to the great national unity bloc and development of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
