An Giang province: Tri Ton district holds Khmer New Year meeting

 On April 14, Tri Ton district authorities organized a meeting with about 200 Khmer Buddhist dignitaries and security officials on occasion of the Khmer New Year festival - Chol Chnam Thmay.

Speaking at the meeting held in Southern province of An Giang, the district People’s Committee Vice Chairman Men Sây Ma praised efforts of local security officials and Buddhist dignitaries in promoting socio-economic development and ensuring public stability and order in the locality.

The district Vice Chairman also encouraged Khmer Buddhists and security officers to make further practical contributions to the maintenance of peace and security in communities and the social and cultural development of the locality.

It’s reported that Tri Ton district authorities recognized 41 outstanding Khmer as prestigious people in 2014, and presented many gifts to participants of the Khmer traditional New Year meeting.
