Highly-ranking dignitaries of religious organizations of Buddhism (including Khmer Theravada Buddhism) and Islam attended a meeting held by An Giang provincial leaders on Feb. 4.
Speaking to nearly 200 local religious dignitaries, intellectuals and compatriots at the meeting, Most Venerable Thích Huệ Tài, Head of the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee shared about achievements of Buddhist affairs by more than 700,000 Buddhists in the locality in 2014.
Venerable Châu Oanh, representative of Khmer Theravada Buddhism in An Giang province took the chance to thank the local authorities for their supports, contributing to improve the daily life of Khmer people and preserve their religious and ethnic identities.
Deputy Head of Representative Committee for Muslim Community in An Giang Haji Jacky spoke highly of the Party and State’s practical supports and assistance designed to improve the material and spiritual of Cham people in the province.
The meeting held by An Giang provincial authorities aimed to highlight great contributions made by locals including religious followers in implementing policies and laws of the Party and State and conducting social and charitable activities in the locality ahead of the Traditional Tet Festival.
