Vietnam Fatherland Front in Dong Thap reviews three-year implementation of coordination program for environmental protection

The Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s (VFF) in Dong Thap province held on January 18 an online meeting to review three-year implementation of the coordination program on environmental protection and climate change adaptation in the province.
At the meeting
Over 500 delegates from the provincial VFF, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, concerning agencies and religious organizations joined the event at the district and provincial gateways level in the locality.
As reported at the meeting, the provincial VFF, Department of Natural Resources and Environment and religious organizations in the province has signed a cooperation agreement on protection environment and climate change adaptation for the 2015-2020 period since June 26, 2016.
During the three-year implementing the cooperation program, 9 religious organizations (including Hoa Hoa Buddhist Church, Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Catholicism, Tay Ninh Caodai Church, Ante-Creation Caodai Church, Correction-Path Caodai Church, Protestantism and Buu Son Ky Huong faith ) in the province have developed 74 corresponding programs with practical activities for protection environment and climate change adaptation. These programs drew the participation of over 5,600 religious dignitaries and followers in the locality, and organized over 3,700 disseminating meetings with the attendance of over 359,000 followers and activities for raising awareness of religious communities on environmental protection and adaptation to climate change, etc.
On the occasion, local authorities presented certificates of merit to 7 religious organizations and 16 individuals for their outstanding contributions in protecting environment and climate change adaption.
