VFF in Thanh Hoa hands over charity houses to Catholics in Yen Khanh parish

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Thanh Hoa held on October 16 a program for presenting charity houses to Catholic households who are relying on a local river at Yen Khanh parish in Yen Dinh district’s Dinh Cong commune.  

The event saw the participation of Chairwoman of the provincial Party Commission for Mass Mobilization cum Chairwoman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) Phạm Thị Thanh Thủy; Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh, President of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC) cum Head of the CSVC in Thanh Hoa province, and  representatives from local authorities, Thanh Hoa diocese Caritas, and Catholic families of the parish.

As reported at the event, since 2007, Yen Dinh district authorities have created favorable conditions for Catholic households living in the river to move to the main-land by allocating land for 179 Catholic households, with 95 of them in communes of Dinh Tan, Dinh Hai, Dinh Tien and Dinh Cong having built their houses.

In 2021, the provincial VFF has supported construction of charity houses for 13 Catholic households living on the river in Yen Khanh parish. These houses have been completed after five months with the total construction cost of nearly 2,45 billion VND, of which 520 million VND came from the provincial VFF and 510 million VND came from Thanh Hoa diocese Caritas and other social resources.
