Tu Luong Xam festival recognized as national intangible culture heritage

Tu Luong Xam Festival in Hai Phong City’s Hai An district has been recognized as a national intangible culture heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism.

At the festival

The festival is annually held from the 16th to 18th day of the first lunar month, celebrating the Bach Dang victory and commemorating the death anniversary of King Ngô Quyền.

The festival often draws the participation of locals of all villages and communes in the district, and features many traditional music and dance performances recreating the Bach Dang victory, and folk games such as blindfolded slamming pots, blindfolded catching goats, spring swing game, Chinese chess, Vietnam human chess, etc.

Earlier, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry also announced decisions to recognize 19 cultural heritages of traditional festivals, social practices and belief, and handicrafts, etc. as national intangible cultural heritages, adding the total number of 416 intangible national heritages.
