A delegation from the Committee for Religious Affairs in Tien Giang province paid on August 19 visits to local religious organizations for exchanges about the Covid-19 prevention and control on occasion of Vu Lan and Trung Nguon festivals of Buddhism and of Caodaism (the 15th day of the seventh lunar month).

The delegation led by Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Văn Khuê visited five district-level Vietnam Buddhist Sangha executive boards and two Caodai parishes in districts of Chau Thanh, Tan Phuoc, Cai Lay and Cai Be, and Cai Lay provincial city.

During the visits, while extending best wishes to Buddhist and Caodai dignitaries and lay followers in the province on occasion of Vu Lan and Trung Nguon festivals, Vice Chairman Trần Văn Khuê encouraged religious dignitaries to strictly observe guidelines of the health sector for the Covid-19 pandemic prevention.

Representatives from religious organizations took the chance to thank the provincial religious committee delegation for its visits. They also informed that this year, due to the current Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, local religious dignitaries have reminded lay followers to stay home and celebrate the traditional Vu Lan and Trung Nguon festivals according to instructions of the churches and local authorities, without gathering in large numbers to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
