Promoting national security protection movement amongst religious communities in Thanh Hoa

A conference reviewing the 10-year implementation of the Public Security Ministry’s Direction on “Promoting the movement on national security protection amongst religious communities” in 2014-2024 period in Thanh Hoa province was held on August 5.

According to the conference’s report, 87 models of self-management of security and order amongst religious communities have been launched in the province during the last 10 years.

The process of implementing movement on national security protection amongst religious communities has promptly met legitimate needs of religious people and organizations, as well as enhanced the effectiveness of the state management on religion at the grassroots level, contributing to strengthen the national solidarity and promote fine values of religions in social life.

For the coming years, the provincial public security will enhance active roles of each religious follower in practical models of self-governance on security and order in localities and patriotic emulation movements launched by the local government.

Thanh Hoa province currently has four active religions of Buddhism, Catholicism, Protestantism and Caodaism, with over 300 thousand religious followers, accounting for about 8.5% of the provincial population.
