Party, State leaders send congratulations to VBS on 40th founding anniversary

On behalf of the Party and State’ leaders, President of the Central Vietnam Fatherland Front Comminittee (VFF) Đỗ Văn Chiến visited and extended congratulations to the Vietnamese Buddhist Sangha (VBS) at Quan Su pagoda on November 5 on occasion of the VBS’s 40th founding anniversary.  

Joining the VFF President included representatives of the Vietnam Evangelical Church (North), the Hanoi Caodai oratory, the Baha’i community and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hanoi.

The visiting delegation was welcomed by Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Vice President of the VBS’ Central Executive Council and other dignitaries of the central VBS’s executive council and office in Hanoi.

At the visiting reception, VFF President Đỗ Văn Chiến presented the flower bouquet and congratulations sent by the Party and State’ leaders to the VBS.

He also extended his best wishes to all Buddhist monks, nun and lay followers on occasion of the VBS’s 40th founding anniversary, and spoke highly of the contributions of all Buddhists in socio-economic development and in activities taking care of people facing disadvantage and natural disasters.

He especially highlighted the role of Buddhists in the fight against COVID-19 with financial donations, medical assistance and charitable meals for those affected by the pandemic.

Speaking with the guest, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, expressed sincere thanks to the Party and State’s leaders and the visiting delegation dor due attention and congratulations on the VBS’s 40 founding anniversary.

He also affirmed that the VBS would continue encouraging its members to follow the Party and State’s policies and laws and take an active part in social work to support poor people and those affected by COVID-19.
