A national conference on promotion of religious roles in environmental protection and climate change response will be held in October in Hue City, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE).

As reported at the meeting on preparations for the national conference held on September 4 and chaired by Deputy Minister for natural resources and environment Võ Tuấn Nhân, the conference this year will be co-organized by Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) and the natural resources and environment ministry, in collaboration with the Nordic Assistance to Vietnam and religious organizations in the country.

The event will draw the participation of senior officials of the Vietnam Government, heads of the VFFCC and concerning ministries and central agencies, religious leaders and representatives of international organizations and foreign embassies in the country.

The conference will evaluate the four-year implementation of the signed coordination program between the VFF, the MNRE and religious organizations in Vietnam, share good experiences/models for environmental protection and climate change adaptation, recommend measures for enhancing religious organizations’ capacities in protecting the environment, and honor religious individuals and groups for their outstanding contributions in the program implementation.
