NA Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children supervises implementation of policies & laws on religion in Thai Nguyen

A delegation of the National Assembly (NA) Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children visited Thai Nguyen province from July 27-28 for supervising the implementation of state policies and laws on belief and religion in the locality.  

During the working trip, on July 27, the delegation had an exchange meeting on the implementation of state policies and laws on belief and religion with representatives of Thai Nguyen Catholic Parish, the Evangelical Church in Thai Nguyen under the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North) and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in the province.

During the meeting, representatives of religious organization in the province affirmed that the Law on Belief and Religion 2016 has provided clearer legal framework, contributing to better guide religious practices by followers of religions.

In particular, Pastor Superintendent of the Evangelical Church in Thai Nguyen Lý Tài Cương asked the provincial authorities to allocate land for constructing a worshipping place of the Church as the Church is renting a place for worshipping activities, and Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS’s executive committee in the province Thích Chúc Tiếp asked for a consistency of regulations between the new law on belief & religion and the Law on Cultural Heritage 2001 for better preserving and promoting values of worshipping places recognized as the national or province-level relics.

The delegation meets with district authorities of Dong Hy

On July 28, the NA inspection delegation had a meeting with district authorities of Dong Hy and visited Da Thien temple located in the district’s Trai Cau town for exchanges on the implementation of state policies and laws on belief and religion.

During the working visit, Chairman of the NA committee for culture, education, youth, adolescents and children Phan Thanh Bình asked the district authorities to timely solve the dispute at Da Thien temple based on the Law on Land and Construction 2013, the Law on Belief and Religion 2016 and The Civil Code Law 2015, contributing to meet demands of religious practices and ensure public order in the locality.
