Mung temple festival named national intangible heritage

Nong Cong district authorities in Thanh Hoa province held on April 16 a ceremony to receive the certificate honoring the Mung temple festival as the national intangible cultural heritage. 

Mung temple festival in Con Son village, Trung Thanh commune of Thanh Hoa province’s Nong Cong district, held twice a year, dedicates to General Lê Hữu (Út Đại Vương) for his great contributions in fighting Tang invaders in the seventh century. The festival is held annually from the second day to the fifth day of the first lunar month and from the first day to the 8th day of the third lunar month.

Main activities in the festival include the processions, worshipping rites, art performances and folk games such as Cheo singing in Lang Giang River, dragon boat racing, cockfighting, etc.

Mung temple festival has been listed as a national intangible cultural heritages by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism since 2019./.
