MOLISA urges inspection of religious sponsoring centers

The ministry of labor, invalids and social affairs (MOLISA) has sent an official note to the provincial-level government urging inspection of social sponsoring centers operated by religious organizations across the coutry.

The note No. 2821/LDTBXH-BXH dated July 13 requested the provincial-level authorities to assign the department of labor, invalids and social affairs and concerning departments with the task of inspecting sponsoring centers run by religious organizations in order to ensure the operation of these centers registered with competent state authorities and meeting requirements for taking care of people with disabilities or under special difficulties.

The official note also asked for assistance extended to those being cared at sponsoring centers lawfully operated by religious organizations, including orphans and street children, in accordance with the government regulation on the supporting policy extended to those eligible for state assistance.

According to MOLISA, currently 223 out of 416 social sponsoring centers in the country are non-state centers with some of them operated by religious organizations.
