Khmer people in Soc Trang celebrate Chol Chnam Thmay festival

Soc Trang province was in festive atmosphere as local Khmer people celebrated their traditional New Year Chol Chnam Thmay.

On Saturday, at Bung Tol Sa pagoda, there was a festival which featured Sadam dances, a recreation of Tevada Chnam Thmay ritual, and singing performances in Vietnamese and Khmer language. Local authorities briefed participants about the policies of the Party and State. They presented gifts to monks and policy beneficiaries, and handed 10 symbolic charity houses to local disadvantaged families.
