Fishermen listen to regulations against IUU fishing

IUU is the acronym for illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, also known as fishing activities that contravene conservation and management measures around the world. According to the Europe Commission (EC), IUU is one of the activities that cause serious harm to the marine environment, the sustainability of fish stocks and the socio-economic situation. Therefore, the EC issued on October the 1st, 2010 Regulation 1005/20081 to create a Europe-wide system to prevent and eliminate the import of IUU fishery products into the EU market.
