Joint-working group checks preparations for UN Day of Vesak 2019 in Ha Nam

A joint-working group to help the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) hosting the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019 in Vietnam paid on January 14 a delegation visit to Ha Nam province for inspecting preparations for the UN Buddhist event.  

The joint-working group led by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyễn Trọng Thừa and joint by Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA)Vũ Chiến Thắng.

During the visit, the working group had a meeting with Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu and Senior Venerable General Secretary of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Đức Thiện, Vice Chairman of Ha Nam provincial People’s Committee Bùi Quang Cẩm and Director of Xuan Truong Construction Company.

The working group also visited the Tam Chuc pagoda site chosen as the venue of the UN Vesak Celebrations for actually checking the completion of constructing of facilities including the triple gate, worshipping halls, temples, conference centre, car parks, house for monks and nuns, and the traffic system around the pagoda, etc.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyễn Trọng Thừa asked the VBS for thorough preparations in order to ensure the successful hosting of the UN Buddhist event in solemn and economical ways.

The Deputy Minister also asked Ha Nam authorities to ensure the infrastructure including hotels and transport infrastructure be completed in time for hosting the Buddhist event.

After the meeting of the joint-working group with the VBS and relevant agencies, the GCRA will report to the competent authorities and continue implementing the tasks assigned by the Prime Minister for assisting the hosting of the UN Vesak by the VBS.
