Huong Tich Pagoda festival opens in Ha Tinh

Huong Tich Pagoda located in Thien Loc Commune, Can Loc District, Ha Tinh Province opened its annual festival on February 21 (6th day of the first lunar month), making beginnings for the provincial tourism year 2018.

The opening ceremony of the event was held by Ha Tinh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Can Loc district authorities.

The event saw the participation of Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Lê Đình Sơn, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Đặng Quốc Khánh and large numbers of Buddhists and visitors.

According to Director of provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Bùi Xuân Thập, Huong Tich pagoda was built in the thirteenth century. Huong Tich pagoda has been recognized as the national historical and cultural relic in 1990. In 2018, the Asian Development Bank will start investing some construction items for the pagoda with total capital of $ 7 million as part of a project for improvement of tourism infrastructure, contributing to a comprehensive development of the greater Mekong sub-region.

The festival will run until the 3rd lunar month with many cultural and sport activities including singing and dancing repertoires praising the beauty of the homeland and folk games such as tug of war, cock fighting, etc..
