Forum on religious role in environmental protection held in Hanoi

A forum on religious role in environmental protection was held on May 30 in Phap Van pagoda located in Hanoi’s Hoang Mai district.

Attending the event themed “Religion and peaceful life & beautiful environment” included dignitaries from several religious organizations of the Buddhism, Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam, Correction-Path Caodai Church, Bahá'í Faith and Vietnam Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and representatives of the municipal Public Security.

During the forum, representatives of seven religious organizations reached a consensus on choosing the 30th of May as the day for environmental protection by Hanoi religions. They also pledged to create a social welfare establishment each year for environmental protection and climate change adaptation.

On the same day, dignitaries and followers of the religious organizations and municipal public security’s youth have together cleaned up garbage and planted trees around Linh Dam lakeside.
