Deputy Prime Minister Trần Lưu Quang paid on May 19 a visit to the Vietnam Pure-Land Buddhist Association’s Central Executive Committee, on the occasion of the Buddha’s Birthday B.E. 2568 (Vesak 2024).

Accompanying the deputy prime minister included Vice Chairman of the Central Commission for Mass Mobilization Đỗ Văn Phớn, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee Tô Thị Bích Châu, Deputy Minister of the Home Affairs Ministry Vũ Chiến Thắng, Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Thị Minh Nga, and Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Dương Ngọc Hải.

During the visit, while extending warm Vesak greetings to the central executive committee and all followers of the pure-land Buddhist association, Deputy Prime Minister also extended congratulations to the successful organization of the 90th Founding Anniversary of the Buddhist association and the 4th congress of the association for the term 2024-2029.

The deputy prime minister praised the contributions of the association and its chapters in health care, medical examination and treatment for poor people, with the total investment of hundreds of billion VND, contributing to the implementation of state policies and laws on social welfare and health care.

Speaking with the guests, Rev. Nguyễn Ngọc Ánh briefed about religious affairs of the association over past five years, and took the chance to thank the government for due attention extended to religious practices of pure-land Buddhists. He also affirmed that the association always accompanies with the nation and continues to strictly abide by the policies and laws of the Party and the State, thus contributing to the development of the society.
