The Committee for Solidarity of Catholics in Bac Giang province successfully held the 8th congress of the Catholics for national construction and defense for 2022-2027 tenure on September 29-30.
The event saw the presence of Priest Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh, Part-time Vice President of the VFF Central Committee, President of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics cum Chairman of the provincial Committee for Solidarity of Catholics; Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Lê Ánh Dương; representatives from local authorities, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee in the province, the Catholic solidarity committees in neighboring provinces, and 200 delegates representing over 32,000 lay Catholics in the province.
The congress elected 25 members to the Catholic Solidarity Committee in the province for the 2022 – 2027 tenure with Mr. Phạm Đình Cấp reselected as Head of the Committee, and nominated six members to attend the national congress of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics.
On the occasion, the Central Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics, the provincial People’s Committee, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee presented certificates of commendation to groups and individuals of the provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee for their outstanding contributions in 2017-2022 tenure.
