The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Bac Ninh province held on May 24 a solemn ceremony to celebrate the 2562nd Buddha’s Birthday.
Attending the ceremony included Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the VBS Thích Thanh Dũng, Most Venerable Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council Thích Quảng Tùng, Senior Venerable General Secretary of VBS Thích Đức Thiện and members of the provincial VBS’s executive committee, district-level VBS’s executive boards and abbots of pagoda and a large number of Buddhists in the province.
Local guests at the ceremony included Standing Deputy Secretary of provincial Party Committee Nguyễn Hữu Quất and representatives from provincial commission for mass mobilization, Vietnam fatherland front (VFF)’s committee and religious affairs committee.
The ceremony featured many rituals of Buddhist offering, procession, Buddha bathing, balloons and pigeons releasing and prayers for peace. On this occasion, the VBS chapter also held a ceremony for casting a bronze statue of Buddha Shakyamuni to be placed in the preaching hall of Dai Thanh pagoda.

In addition to the Buddha’s Birthday celebration held by the VBS provincial executive committee, district-level VBS’ executive boards and several pagodas in the province such as districts of Yen Phong, Tu Son, Tien Du, Thua Thanh, Que Vo and Phat Tich pagoda, etc also held solemn activities celebrating the 2562nd Birthday of the Buddha.
