Bach Dang Festival receives national recognition as intangible cultural heritage

The provincial city of Quang Yen in Quang Ninh province held on November 20 a solemn ceremony for formally receiving decisions on national recognition of one intangible cultural heritage and two historical relic sites in Quang Yen.

Specifically, Bach Dang Festival in the provincial city has formally become a national intangible cultural heritage.  

The festival has been annually held from the 6th to the 8th of the 3rd lunar month for commemorating heroic fighters in the two historic battles on Bach Dang River in 938 and 1288.

The event usually takes place in the Bach Dang historical relic site, with main venues of Tran Hung Dao Temple, Vua Ba temple and Yen Giang village temple.

The other two national historical sites in Quang Yen provincial city newly classified by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism are Hung Hoc village temple in Nam Hoa ward and Ho Mach relic in Yen Hai ward.

The formal national recognitions of Bach Dang festival and the other historical relic sites took place on occasion of the 10th establishment anniversary of Quang Yen provincial city (November 25, 2011-2021)./.
