This year, the traditional Ramuwan festival of Cham people following Bani and orthodox Islam in Ninh Thuan will be celebrated on April 22 – 24.
In the complicated context of the Covid-19 epidemic, Ninh Thuan authorities have asked local Muslims to suspend all religious ceremonies in mosques and temples, not to visit their ancestors’ graves at cemeteries, and cancel the fasting month of Muslim dignitaries and deacons at Muslim worshipping places.
The celebrating activities of the Ramuwan festival at homes of Cham families were also asked to be conducted simply and without large gatherings.
The traditional Ramuwan festival is a traditional New Year of Cham Bani people in Ninh Thuan province, and often held with worshipping activities, traditional rituals and familial gatherings to pay tribute to their ancestors and pray for peace, prosperity and bumper crops.
