Vietnamese in Lao and Thailand pay tribute to martyrs in Gac Ma combat

A requiem for Vietnamese martyrs was held on March 14 at Phat Tich pagoda located in Vientiane of Lao on occasion of the 34th death anniversary of 64 soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy on Gac Ma Island belonging to the Truong Sa archipelago of Vietnam.

The event drew the presence of representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in Laos, the Vietnamese Military Attaché in Laos, Vietnamese monks, lay Buddhists and people living, studying and working in Laos.

During the event, Vietnamese monks, lay Buddhists and participants respectfully performed Buddhist rites to commemorate and pray for spiritual uplifting of fallen soldiers.

* On the same day, the Vietnamese Association in Udon Thani of Thailand, Buddhist monks and nuns of Khanh An pagoda located in the Northeast of Thailand held a requiem for Vietnamese martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s integrity.

During the event, Mr. Lương Xuân Hòa, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Udon Thani informed that the requiem has been held by the Vietnamese community in Thailand for seven consecutive years to pay tribute to the soldiers who died during Gac Ma combat, as well as all other Vietnamese martyrs and death victims.
