Vietnamese Buddhist Association established in Japan

On October 5th, 2014, Most Venerable Thích Thiện Pháp, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council presented the recognizing certificate of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in Japan to Nun Thích Tâm Trí, Head of the association and 19 members.

At the ceremony, Nun Thích Tâm Trí expressed her wish to create a close bond within the Vietnamese community in Japan, educate the younger generation on Vietnam’s identities and cultural traditions and support Vietnamese students in Japan as well as VBS’s Buddhist activities. 

During the ceremony, VBS representatives also presented the recognizing certificate of the VBS to four Buddhist Asmaras in Tokyo, Saitama, Shizuoka and Nagoya.

Speaking at the ceremony, Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, Acting President of the VBS’s Executive Council reviewed the Buddhist exchange between Vietnam and Japan and expressed his hope that the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in Japan will serve as a bridge between the two countries and contribute to the development of Buddhism in Vietnam.

The establishment of Vietnamese Buddhist Association in Japan by the VBS’s Decision No.416 dated November 11, 2013, approved by the Japanese Government on February 28, 2014, marked a new development of the VBS and met the aspirations of Buddhists who are living, studying and working in Japan.

The establishment of Vietnamese Buddhist Association in Japan also marked a significantly growth of the Buddhist community in Japan, contributing to foster cultural exchanges between the two countries and promote cohesion amongst Vietnam Buddhist community in Japan.
