During a State visit to India, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng visited Bodh Gaya, the place where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment.
Bodh Gaya city, Bihar state is the Buddhist pilgrimage town of India and the world. At the reception, Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng agreed that the two sides should promote cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, agriculture, fisheries and tourism. Accordingly, Prime Minister proposed that both sides will set to launch daily direct flights between Vietnam and Bodh Gaya as well as hold a business forum Vietnam - Bihar state in Bodh Gaya city in the early next year.
PM also proposed that India will consider visa-on-arrival facility for Vietnam citizens at the Bodh Gaya airport. Prime Minister also expressed his hope that the authorities of Bihar state and Bihar Bodh Gaya district will continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnam Buddhist monks, nuns to practice their religion as well as for Buddhists and tourists to pilgrimage in the holy land.
Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng first arrived at Bodh Gaya in his visit to India from October 27 – 28, 2014.
