The Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) in collaboration with the Lao Front for National Construction Central Committee held on December 21 a meeting to share experiences in religious affairs between Vietnam and Lao border localities in Thua Thien Hue province.
The event was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs of Vietnam Nguyễn Trọng Thừa, Chairman of the GCRA Vũ Chiến Thắng, Vice Presidents of the Lao Front for National Construction Central Committee Kham Bay Dam Lat and Chan Tha Vong Sen A Mat Mon Ty, and attended by representatives from central agencies of the two countries and leaders representing the Vietnam and Lao border localities.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyễn Trọng Thừa affirmed the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. The meeting provided an opportunity for the two sides to exchanging on religious affairs between Vietnam and Lao border localities, he added.
At the meeting, delegates agreed on the need to intensify the communication work among border residents, including religious followers, to promote the fruitful neighbourliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive, long-term, sustainable cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides should create conditions for religious dignitaries and followers to exercise their religions in line with law of each country, enhance information exchange and join hands in ensuring political security, and social order and safety in the border area, they said.
