The Vietnamese Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) and the Cambodian Ministry of Cults and Religions opened on December 14 in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho a conference to exchange experiences on religious affairs.
The conference’s opening ceremony saw the participation of Chairman of the GCRA Vũ Chiến Thắng, Mrs. General Secretary of Cambodian Ministry of Cults and Religions Touch Sarom, Standing Vice Chairman of Can Tho municipal People’s Committee Lê Văn Tâm, and over 30 delegates representing Cambodia’s state sector on administration of religion.
In his speech, Head of the Vietnamese Committee Vũ Chiến Thắng said that the shared experiences on state management of religion in each country would help improve the capability and efficiency in religious affairs, making important contributions to the maintenance of social order and national development in each country.

The conference is part of a cooperation agreement signed in 2015 by the two state bodies on religious affairs. Apart from exchanges during the conference that will last until December 20, the Cambodian delegates will take fact-finding trips to some religious establishments in Can Tho city and Soc Trang province.
