VFF leader discusses religious roles in environmental protection with Norway Church Aid

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyễn Thiện Nhân paid a working visit to Norway from June 8-14.

On this occasion, he met with representatives from the Norway Church Aid (NCA) in Oslo.

During the meeting, both sides discussed further coordination in promoting religious roles in environmental protection and climate change adaptation.

The two sides also committed to closely work together in encouraging activities for environmental protection and response to climate change by religions in Vietnam, including the co-ordination program between the VFF Central Committee’s Standing Committee, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and 40 religious organizations in Vietnam, and development of the annual action plan of each of these religious organizations for environmental protection and climate change adaptation.

In speaking to the guest, Secretary of International NCA cum Head of NCA in Asia Anne Marie Helland spoke highly of the conference held by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee on December, 2015 on role of religions in environmental protection and climate change response for the 2015-2020 period.

Speaking at the meeting, President Nguyễn Thiện Nhân expressed hope that the International NCA would help further promote religious roles in environmental protection and social welfares.
