Ven. Hungkar Dorje Rinpoche visit Hanoi city Religious Committee

Chairman of Hanoi city Committee for Religious Affairs Lê Văn Cửu received on September 14 Ven. Hungkar Dorje Rinpoche, who is on a visit to Vietnam at the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s invitation.

At the meeting reception, Ven. Hungkar Dorje expressed his thanks to Vietnam’s authorities for allowing him to visit and share Buddhist teachings.

During the reception, Chairman Lê Văn Cửu informed that Vietnam is a multi-religious and multi-ethnic country and Hanoi city has seven operative religions and 27 ethnic groups with over 71,000 people. Currently, the city has over 2,000 pagodas with nearly 2,000 monks and nuns, he said.

The Chairman also shared that the city authorities highly appreciated efforts made by Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in the cause of building and developing of the city.

Ven. Hungkar Dorje Rinpoche was born in Golog, Tibet. He is director of Lungen Abbey with 1,000 monks in Golog. Every year, he goes to the US, Canada, Russia and Vietnam to give religious teachings.
