On October 27, Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam David Devine led a delegation to visit the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) at its headquarters in Hanoi.
Welcoming the delegation included Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS’ Executive Committee Thích Gia Quang and Venerable Deputy Chief of the VBS’ Office Thích Thanh Huân.
At the reception, Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang briefed the guest about the history of Buddhism in Vietnam as well as the VBS’s activities over the past years. He also informed that, when the State gathered comments on the draft law on belief and religion recently, the VBS has made specific suggestions to the draft law, contributing to ensure the law, once enacted, meets religious needs of people in Vietnam.
Speaking at the visiting reception, Mr. David Devine thanked the VBS for its warm welcome and information on the VBS history and current development.
