US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius and his family attended the Buddhist Parents’ Day Festival held on August 28 in Quan Su pagoda.
Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Abbot of Quan Su pagoda, Buddhist dignitaries and a large number of followers attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, VBS leaders exchanged with the US Ambassador the origin of the festival. The Buddhist Parents’ Day festival is a meaningful occasion for people to express gratitude towards their parents, said Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ted Osius shared that he and his family are respectful of Buddhism and Vietnamese culture and history. He also expressed his honor and feelings experienced, and thanked VBS leaders for its warm welcome.
