A gathering to celebrate the traditional Asian New Years was held in Pho Minh pagoda in Ho Chi Minh city on April 14.
The event was hosted by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and the Vietnam associations for friendship with Lao, Cambodia and Thailand.
Attending the event were representatives from VUFO, the friendship associations, Embassies of Lao, Cambodia and Thailand to Vietnam and foreign students studying in HCM city.
The annual event aimed to promote friendship and understanding of cultural traditions amongst Vietnam and Cambodian, Laos and Thailand.
During the event, Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee Thích Thiện Tâm, Abbot of Pho Minh pagoda performed rituals during the New Year festival of the Asian countries including bathing the Buddha statue, tying threads around the wrist, splashing water and praying for peace.
