The temple worshipping Nhồi Hoa Princess located at Phuong Mountain in Son Lai commune of Ninh Binh province’s Nho Quan district has been a rare relic site commemorating a Laotian Princess who died in Vietnam and has been deified and worshiped in the country.
According to history, upon order from the Laotian King, Nhồi Hoa Princess led a herd of elephants to pay tribute and help elephant taming for Lê Thánh Tông King. On the way back to Laos, she fell ill and died suddenly at Doc Trang Trai palace in Thai Son village of Son Lai commune. Then local people buried her, built a tomb and temple to worship her.
The temple was recognized as the provincial historical relic. The instruction from Khải Định and Duy Tân Kings to direct local people to worship Nhồi Hoa Princess has been preserved in the communal house.
The temple festival opens at the beginning of the third lunar month with traditional rituals and performances of folk arts including the traditional Champa dance of Laos. The temple is a cultural highlight in historical relation between Vietnam and Laos.
