Seminar on ancient books, Han Chinese, Vietnamese Nôm scripts in Da Nang city

A seminar on ancient books and Han Chinese and Vietnamese Nôm scripts was held on March 23 in Da Nang city.

The event was jointly organized by Da Nang city, Culture and Sports Department, Ngu Hanh Son ward People’s Committee in collaboration with Lieu Quan Buddhist Cultural Centre in Thua Thien Hue province, and attended by scholars from the provinces and cities of Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Da Nang.

During the event, the participating scholars focused their discussion on the Buddhist cultural heritage of Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains), ancient documents, ancient statues and Buddhist steles, bibliographies, and parallel sentences written in old Vietnamese and Chinese characteristics. In addition, the event also introduced contents of ancient books including “Ngu Hanh Son Luc” and “Ngu che thi”

The seminar aimed to systematically evaluate the documentary heritage in Marble Mountains as a step toward recommendation have this heritage recognized in the national memory list by the national memory of the World Committees in Vietnam and as a world documentary heritage by UNESCO.

Earlier, Ngu Hanh Son Mountain was recognized as National Special Relic on January, 2019
