The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in the UK and the Vietnamese Association in the country held a requiem in London on June 10 for fallen Vietnamese soldiers.
At the event, participants paid homage to soldiers who laid down their lives to protect the country’s sea and islands sovereignty, including Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.
The ceremony was chaired by Senior Venerable Thích Bửu Chánh, head of the Phuoc Son-Dong Nai Monastery and Senior Venerable Thích Lệ Nguyên, Chairman of the VBS in the UK.
Senior Venerable Thích Lệ Nguyên affirmed that the requiem is to honour heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country and to remind Vietnamese people living in the UK that the two archipelagos belong to Vietnam.
