The event saw the participation of Vice President of the VFF’s Central Committee Ngô Sách Thực, Director of NCA for Vietnam Eivind Archer, and representatives of religious organizations.

The meeting focused on exchanges of experiences in promoting environmental protection as well as climate change adaptation by several establishments and organizations of religions. During the meeting, representatives of Buddhist and Catholic organizations shared results of implementing pilot models for environmental protection and climate change adaptation by their respective organizations.

Addressing the meeting Vice President Ngô Sách Thực informed that for the last three years there have been 322 pilot models developed on environmental protection and climate change adaptation across the country and religious organizations have incorporated working plans for environmental protection into their annual program of activities.

As reported, the NCA, a non-governmental organization also known as the Nordic Assistance to Vietnam (NAV), has worked with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to help promote the involvement of religions and religious organizations in environmental protection and climate change adaptation. It has also contributed effectively to improving public health and gender equality as well as helped vulnerable Vietnamese respond to climate change during its 20-year operation in the country. NAV funds approximately US$ 1.2 million for Vietnam each year via its projects and programs.
