Laos President Bounnhang Vorachith visits Bai Dinh pagoda

General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith and his spouse paid on July 6 a visit to Bai Dinh pagoda in Ninh Binh province.

The Lao leader accompanied by the Laos’ high-level delegation was welcomed by Most Venerable Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Executive Council cum Abbot of the pagoda Thích Thanh Nhiễu.

During the welcoming reception, Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu introduced President Bounnhang Vorachith and Laos delegation the development of Bai Dinh pagoda spiritual and cultural complex. The Most Venerable also expressed his pleasure at the fine and close relationship between people of Vietnam and Laos in general and between the Buddhist community in the two countries in particular.

On the occasion, the Laos delegation joined in a Buddhist service praying peace for the two countries’ people and planted a memorial Bodhi tree in the Bai Dinh pagoda spiritual and cultural complex.

General Secretary of the LPRP Bounnhang Vorachith also expressed hope that the Buddhist relation between the two countries would be further strengthened in the coming time.

The visit was part of the five-day trip to Vietnam from July 3-7 of the Laos top leader at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyễn Phú Trọng and State President Trần Đại Quang.
