Indian Embassy surveys location for tree planting in Da Nang

A delegation of the Indian Embassy led by Mr. Varadan Kumar and representatives of the External Affairs Department of Da Nang city on December 15 visited Tam Bao pagoda located in the city’s Hai Chau district.  

The delegation was welcomed by Venerable Thích Pháp Hiếu, Chairman of the International Buddhist Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s chapter in Da Nang city cum abbot of Tam Bao pagoda.

Tam Bao pagoda is an ancient Theravada pagoda and has also been used as the headquaters of the Theravada Buddhist sect in the Central region since 1953.

During the visit, the delegation and the abbot of Tam Bao pagoda surveyed and selected a location for planting trees on occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India, scheduled to be celebrated in the middle of February, 2022 in the city.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Varadan Kumar expressed his delight at a closed and sustained friendship between Vietnam and India in general, and Buddhist relations of the two countries in particular.

Speaking to the guests, Venerable Thích Pháp Hiếu affirmed that Buddhist Sangha chapter in Da Nang province would proactively respond to celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India.
