India Cultural Studies Center Director visits Vietnam Buddhist Institute

Director of India International Center for Cultural Studies (ICCS), Prof. Dr. Suresh Chandra Soni paid a working visit to the Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Ho Chi Minh city on Dec. 13.

Joining the his visit was Prof. Dr. Amajiva Lochan, President of the South and Southeast Asian Association for the Study of Culture and Religion (SSEASR).

Receiving the guests was Most Venerable Thích Trí Quảng, Director of Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Ho Chi Minh city, Venerable Thích Nhật Từ, Deputy-Director of the Institute, and Venerable Thích Giác Hoàng, the Institute Secretary.

During the meeting reception, Prof. Dr. Suresh Chandra Soni discussed with the hosts cooperation possibilities in some areas between the two centers, such as exchanges of lecturers, studies of Pali and Sanskrit languages, scholarship program for Vietnamese students to study Indian culture and philosophy, and cross-studies between Buddhism and Hinduism…   

Most Venerable Thích Trí Quảng shared with Prof. Dr. Suresh Chandra Soni that many Institute graduates have furthered their Buddhist studies in India and later become lecturers of the Institute.
